Social Space Magazine
Lien Centre for Social Innovation
The Lien Centre for Social Innovation, a partnership between the Lien Foundation and Singapore Management University (SMU), was established in 2006 to advance the thinking and capability of the social sector. Social Space is the flagship publication of the Lien Centre for Social Innovation. Since its debut, it has provided a platform for local and international thinkers to address social needs through innovative approaches. The half yearly magazine also includes mainstream and lifestyle elements to cater to its increasingly diverse readership.
In the rebranding exercise, client requested an overhaul of the existing conservative layout so that the magazine has a better readership appeal. The agency gave a modern design to the masthead to give a breath of fresh air to the Social Space magazine. A sleek UV spot varnish was applied to highlight the head shaped identity. Design was further enhanced by applying a peel-off on the cover, revealing the contents of the magazine, signifying discovery of a new phase. Hip colours, creative data visualisations, infographics and illustrations were tastefully added to the overall layout, giving it an artistic yet graphical finishing. The agency also created an ad to raise awareness for the new magazine together with a notebook that comes as a gift with the launch.
Guests of Honours were invited on stage during the launch of the magazine to do the peeling off together as a symbolisation of a new beginning.
